Hello and thank you for taking the time to research your Board of Education candidates!!

Background

My name is Shanna LaDelfa and I am running for a seat on the Webster School Board of Education.   My husband Devon and I moved from Penfield to Webster in 2011 when our children were getting ready to start school.  We were drawn to the small town feel of Webster but with the many opportunities of a larger school.  We have a daughter, Sophia, in 8th grade at Willink Middle School and a son, Samuel, in 6th Grade at Willink.

“Why”

I am running for the Webster Board of Education because I believe we need to create positive, collaborative partnerships with teachers, parents, and the community in order to implement best practices for our district.   I envision a board relationship with teachers, parents, and community members where we feel valued and safe to collaborate with each other.  Where diverse experiences come together to help solve issues of equity and mental health.  I enjoy problem solving and serving our community.    I want to be part of creating an environment where we focus on fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, Board independence, and curriculum from a positive, solution based perspective.

Qualifications

I have 20 years experience in business and process improvement.  Continuous improvement is essential in our drive to create excellence within our school district.  We can’t be afraid to take risks and try new things.  Likewise, when we see we can make improvements, we need to ACT and move forward.  Action is critical and it doesn’t mean we didn’t do a good job with our initial plan, it means we understand that all things can be improved.  We exhibit strength when we aggressively solve problems.

For the past 8 years I have been involved with the Klem North PTSA, Willink PTSA, and Webster Central PTSA. I was the event coordinator for the Klem North Father-Daughter Dance for 4 years, served as the Secretary for 2 years, and Communications Chair for 1 year.  I am currently serving my 2nd year as the Membership coordinator at Willink, and serving 2 years as Membership Chair for Central PTSA.    Last year, Janice Richardson, Jennifer Birdsong-Ng and I started Webster’s Adopt a Senior program which has been lovingly adopted by Webster parents this year.

Final Message

Bringing positive impact to our community is a passion that Jennifer Birdsong-Ng and I share.  We truly enjoy speaking with parents, children, and Teaching staff to hear first hand their experience with our school district.  Engagement is very important to us as we aim to be a true voice for Webster community members.
